Our team at Naturally Smart Travel is dedicated to creating safe, enriching, and unforgettable travel experiences. Our team is here to support you every step of the way, crafting personalized journeys that reflect your unique interests and dreams. Because travel is more than just visiting places, it’s about making memories that last a lifetime.

In 2017, Leilani Yats volunteered at a natural building school in San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala. It was all the time needed to fall in love with the country, its people, and its culture. During that time, she learned about initiatives bettering communities while developing new, engaging ways to do so. Leilani created Naturally Smart Travel to offer a culturally immersive experience, so guests connect with and embrace their own inspirations firsthand.

With strong business and non-profit experience, Leilani identified the ample number of Guatemalan social and environmental enterprises generating local change. Many aspects of life were being addressed, but with clear areas of need for access to finance and capacity building. Acknowledging the opportunity to bridge those requesting support to those with available resources, the concept of Naturally Smart Travel was born.

The Naturally Smart Travel team is focused on connecting guests with organizations to donate, volunteer and/or invest in. Meeting the people and learning about organizations first hand offers a deeply unique, authentic and immersive cultural experience. Collectively we can make a difference, where even a small investment of time, energy, or finance can lend toward monumental growth for both organizations and guests.

The Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are naturally unique and essential pollinators within the ecosystems they live. Similarly, we view our guests as Hummingbirds, as they play a key role in developing social enterprises; intrinsically aiding their bloom and vitality.
